Healing of Vittorio Micheli
Lourdes, Italy · 20th Century

What Was Truly Miraculous
On 16 April 1962 Vittorio was admitted to hospital for an obscure condition of his left hip. A biopsy confirmed a malignant tumour—sarcoma. For a year he had no anti-mitotic, surgical, or medical treatment. Deterioration was relentless with total destruction of his hip joint. He undertook a pilgrimage to Lourdes in June 1963, encased in a plaster cast. The Bishop of Trento officially recognized the cure as miraculous on 26 May 1976.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Trento recognized it on 26 May 1976. Ewing sarcoma is a lethal bone cancer. Spontaneous cure without surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy is not documented in oncology.
