What Was Truly Miraculous
Marie Bigot had arachnoiditis of the posterior fossa causing blindness, deafness, and hemiplegia. She was cured at Lourdes on 8 October 1953 and 15 August 1956. The Bishop of Rennes declared the cure miraculous in 1954. Arachnoiditis is incurable; reversal of paralysis, deafness, and blindness is not documented in medical literature.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Rennes recognized it on 10 October 1954. Arachnoiditis is incurable. Reversal of paralysis, deafness, and blindness is not documented.
