What Was Truly Miraculous
Alice Couteault had multiple sclerosis for three years—progressive paralysis and disability. She was carried to Lourdes and immersed in the Baths on 15 May 1952. When she emerged, she could walk. MS has no cure; complete remission is not a recognised medical outcome. The Bishop of Poitiers declared the cure miraculous in 1956.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Poitiers recognized it on 16 July 1956. MS has no cure; complete remission is not a recognised outcome. The disease does not reverse.
