What Was Truly Miraculous
Evasio Ganora had Hodgkin's disease. He was cured at Lourdes on 2 June 1950. The Bishop of Casale declared the cure miraculous in 1955. Before effective chemotherapy, Hodgkin lymphoma was typically fatal. Complete spontaneous remission without treatment is not a known medical outcome.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Casale recognized it on 31 May 1955. Before chemotherapy, Hodgkin lymphoma was fatal. Complete spontaneous remission is not a known outcome.
