What Was Truly Miraculous

Tuberculosis had killed Marie-Therese's parents and attacked her spine and abdomen. For over 10 years she had hospital admissions and operations. From 1947 her health declined with oedema, a vaginal fistula, and frequent collapses. She arrived at Lourdes weighing 38 kg. On 9 October, after the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament, she felt better, could get up, move about, and eat. The next day the Medical Bureau considered her to present a complete improvement. She regained her weight (55 kg). Prof. The Bishop of Marseille officially recognized the cure as miraculous on 6 June 1952.

Why It Can't Be Dismissed

The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Marseille recognized it on 6 June 1952. Tuberculosis was the leading cause of death before antibiotics. Rapid, complete cure without drugs is medically unexplained.
