What Was Truly Miraculous

Another cure happening away from Lourdes. For seven years Miss Clauzel had suffered from rheumatic spondylitis with painful visceral disorders and myoclonic contractions. After years of gross disability, almost entirely in bed, her state became life-threatening. On 15 August 1943 (Feast of the Assumption) she was carried to the church 100 metres away. After Mass, to everyone's amazement, she got up and returned home on foot. From that day she never had a relapse. The Bishop of Oran officially recognized the cure as miraculous on 18 March 1948.

Why It Can't Be Dismissed

The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Oran recognized it on 18 March 1948. The condition was documented by physicians before the healing and verified as serious and incurable. The Medical Bureau and bishop confirmed the cure.
