What Was Truly Miraculous

At 14, Marie-Therese was diagnosed with Pott's Disease. A year later she came to Lourdes. She was cured at the moment she entered the Hospital of Notre-Dame des Douleurs, on returning from the Blessed Sacrament Procession. She was examined at the M.B.V. the next morning and followed for a year by her family doctor. Never again was there pain, deformity, or restricted movement. She later went through a mystical experience and in 1921 entered a religious Order under Mgr de Boismenu, Archbishop of Papua-New Guinea.

Why It Can't Be Dismissed

The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Reims recognized it on 2 November 1908. Tuberculosis was the leading cause of death before antibiotics. Rapid, complete cure without drugs is medically unexplained.
