Healing of Elisa Seisson
Lourdes, France · 20th Century

What Was Truly Miraculous
Elisa Seisson had been treated for 6 years for "chronic bronchitis with severe organic heart disease." Her case was considered hopeless. She came to Lourdes at the end of August 1882 and went into the Baths on the first day. She came out much improved, having lost all oedema. After a good night's rest, she woke feeling completely cured. Her doctor confirmed this on 18 September 1882. She remained well for the next 30 years. The Bishop of Aix-en-Provence officially recognized the cure as miraculous on 2 July 1912.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
The Lourdes Medical Bureau gathered documentation; the International Medical Committee (C.M.I.L.) affirmed the cure was inexplicable in the current state of medical knowledge. The Bishop of Aix-en-Provence recognized it on 2 July 1912. Heart valve damage does not spontaneously reverse. The bishop judged the cure outside the ordinary scope of science.
