What Was Truly Miraculous
At age 14, Robert Gutherman developed a severe ear infection that destroyed two bones (ossicles) in his ear. His doctor told him: 'Bones are gone, they're gone. You're just going to be deaf in that ear.' His family prayed to Katharine Drexel. He suddenly regained hearing. X-rays showed the bones were still missing, yet he heard normally.
Why It Can't Be Dismissed
Ossicles do not regenerate. X-rays confirmed the bones were still missing, yet he heard normally. Restoration of hearing without intact ear bones has no medical explanation. His doctor stated: 'It's got to be [a miracle], because I have no other explanation.' The doctor's testimony carries the weight.
