What Was Truly Miraculous

Dafne Gutierrez was completely blind from idiopathic intracranial hypertension and optic nerve damage. She prayed before St. Charbel's relics at St. Joseph Maronite Church in Phoenix, went to confession, and was blessed with holy oil. Within 48 hours her vision was restored to 20/20. Ophthalmologists who had documented her blindness found her optic nerves and vision completely normal.

Why It Can't Be Dismissed

Once the optic disc is chronically atrophied, vision loss is irreversible—no treatment can restore it. Dafne had failed shunt surgeries and was declared permanently blind. Dr. Anne Borik (board-certified internal medicine) led a medical committee that reviewed Dafne's extensive medical records and repeated examinations. The committee wrote: 'We have no medical explanation and therefore believe this to be a miraculous healing through the intercession of St. Charbel.'
